Call for Entries DetailsThe Naples Art Association at The von Liebig Art Center invites all artists in the United States to enter one or two original artworks in any media for National Art Encounter 2010. The fine art and contemporary craft exhibition will be installed throughout The von Liebig Art Center from September 11 to October 30, 2010. The Naples Art Association will present $2,500 in awards to artists selected by exhibition juror and awards judge Denise Gerson: Associate Director of the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami and member of the annual Curator’s Panel sponsored by Art Nexus during Art Basel Miami Beach. The awards will be announced during the Preview Reception and Awards Presentation from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10. There is a $29 entry fee for two works ($22 for Naples Art Association members). The deadline for online entries is July 26, 2010. Membership in the Naples Art Association is not required. Gerson has an almost 30-year career in the visual arts. She has curated and/or organized over 25 major exhibitions for the Lowe Museum since 1989 and is responsible for exhibition development, presentation, and design; curatorial interpretation and publication; authorship, organization and editorial supervision of in-house publications; grant writing; and lecturing. Her latest publication is Through the Lens: Photography from the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami. Gerson holds a Master of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Miami. She has taught visual arts and humanities at Miami-Dade College and art history at the University of Miami. Gerson serves each year on the Curator’s Panel sponsored by Art Nexus during Art Basel Miami Beach. From 1998 to 2000 she served as Chairperson for Art in Public Places, City of Miami Beach. The Naples Art Association at The von Liebig Art Center The von Liebig Art Center, home of the 56-year old Naples Art Association, presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art by regionally, nationally and internationally recognized artists. The von Liebig Art Center’s education program offers professional studio art courses and workshops in painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture and applied arts. The lecture series brings visiting speakers who cover dynamic and stimulating topics in art. ARTScool, a fantastic art studies program for youth ages 4 - 14, is held for eight weeks each summer. The von Liebig Art Center’s galleries are open Monday - Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm. The von Liebig Art Center, home of the 56-year old Naples Art Association, presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art by regionally, nationally and internationally recognized artists. Studio classes and workshops are offered in painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture and applied arts. Galleries are open Monday - Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm.
