Art Show Details
The National Drawing Show is an open exhibition held by the South Shore Art Center. The exhibition, juried by Rachel Rosenfield Lafo, runs from November 7–December 31, 2008. This exhibition will celebrate the diversity of drawing, and is open to all artists.
Rachel Rosenfield Lafo is the Director of Curatorial Affairs at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park. She has organized and collaborated on over 100 exhibitions of contemporary art and authored many accompanying catalogues and essays, among them Photography in Boston: 1955–1985 (co-published with MIT Press); Painting in Boston: 1950–2000; Self-Evidence: Identity in Contemporary of drawing. Open to all artists. No geographical restrictions. Work must be original and completed since January 1, 2005. Work previously shown at the South Shore Art Center or SSAC Arts Festival is NOT eligible.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Maximum size 60" any direction; two-dimensional work must be suitably framed and firmly wired. No sawtooth hangers, no sandwich frames. Plexiglas glazing only, unless hand delivered.
ENTRY PROCEDURE AND FEES:
Slides: All slide entries must be high quality 35mm slides, plastic or paper mounts only. Slides must CLEARLY indicate artist's name, title of work, size (H x W), and medium. Indicate TOP of slide with arrow. On upper right corner indicate entry number to correspond with numbers on entry form.
The South Shore Art Center reserves the right to reject any work not resembling the submitted entry or work that is not ready to be shown according to the aforementioned specifications.
DELIVERY AND RETURN OF ACCEPTED WORK:
Work may be hand delivered or shipped through the exhibition’s shipping agent. For a handling fee of $25, Mail Boxes Etc. in Weymouth will receive artwork and deliver it to South Shore Art Center and at the end of the exhibition will pick up, package and return work to participating artists. Instructions will be sent to those artists whose work is accepted. Return shipping fees are an additional cost. NO MORE THAN THREE PIECES PER $25 FEE.
South Shore Art Center
The South Shore Art Center, founded in 1954, is located in the picturesque town of Cohasset, Massachusetts, 20 miles south of Boston. The 1987 building houses two spacious galleries, two teaching studios, and a darkroom.
