Painters' Challenge is an online painting competition that will inspire your creativity while appealing to your sense of fun and adventure. Challenge yourself to come up with a creative solution that incorporates one or more of the objects from the list below. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and technical excellence.
Every painting you enter must contain one or more of the following items:
Something made of wood
A sphere or spherical object
Something you'd find in the refrigerator
A $1,000US cash award will be given to the Grand Prize winner, and ten additional paintings will receive Merit Awards.
What types of awards are offered?
Eleven awards will be given out in total:
One Grand Prize Winner — $1,000US
Ten Merit Awards — A one-year subscription to CreateBetterPaintings.com
Additionally, all 11 award-winning paintings will be posted on CreateBetterPaintings.com from November 15 through December 31, 2008.
Who and what type of art are eligible?
Painters' Challenge is open to all painters, 18 and older, around the world.
You may submit as many entries as you wish at a fee of $10US per entry.
Only two-dimensional works done in any painting or drawing media (oils, pastels, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencil, collage, pencil, charcoal, and the like) will be accepted. All painting styles from photorealism to non-representational are welcome. Digital art, photography, and other types of three-dimensional art are not eligible.
NOTE: All participating artists must guarantee that the works they submit are original and not copied from or closely derived from another person's work, such as a painting, sculpture, or photograph. (Participating artists may, of course, submit works done from photographs they have taken for themselves.)
All entries must be submitted electronically via e-mail; CDs, slides, photographs, and other transparencies will not be accepted.
Because the award-winning paintings will only be published on CreateBetterPaintings.com, there are no size limitations to the works nor any framing requirements.
The works will not be made available for sale through CreateBetterPaintings.com. Therefore, paintings that have already been sold are still eligible for the competition.
Who is judging the competition?
Painters' Challenge will be judged by the CreateBetterPaintings.com editorial advisory team, led by Jennifer King, Editor-in-Chief.
How will I know if I've won?
Winners will be notified by e-mail on November 10, 2008, and the award-winning works will be posted on CreateBetterPaintings.com as of November 15, 2008. The Grand Prize winner will receive his or her award money by check shortly thereafter.
